Declassified UFO Files Include Apollo 12 Audio
The latest declassified files from the Pentagon reveal an intriguing audio recording from the 1969 Apollo 12 post-mission medical debriefing. In this audio, astronauts describe witnessing a “streak of light” while attempting to sleep in the depths of space.
This audio is part of the Department of the Army’s ongoing efforts under the Presidential Opening and Reporting System for UAP Encounters (PURSUE). It captures the Apollo 12 crew discussing the flashes of light they observed within their dark spacecraft.
Records show that one astronaut remarked, “The stripes I saw were the stripes I saw on the horizon. The horizontal streaks were always slightly above the center.”
Interestingly, there are claims from a Republican representative suggesting that the government isn’t fully transparent regarding UFO information made available to the public.
The Army explained that this release is part of a wider initiative to identify, review, declassify, and release unresolved UAP-related records. The first set of these records was released on May 8.
The Apollo 12 mission, notable as NASA’s second manned moon landing, launched in November 1969, featuring astronauts Charles “Pete” Conrad, Richard Gordon, and Alan Bean.
In the debriefing recording, astronauts shared their experiences of the mysterious visual flash. One mentioned that the stripes appeared to be “approximately in the same place,” while another astronaut noted the angle of these streaks was about “30 degrees to the horizontal.”
It’s interesting to note that during their discussion, they wondered whether these flashes were random or directional and whether they were seen by one or both eyes. One of them pointed out that if you wait long enough to observe the flash, you typically could determine which eye had perceived it.
The report discussed the phenomenon, suggesting it might be connected to cosmic rays or heavy particles passing through the eye.
The recent audio release includes various records, not just from Apollo 12. Among them are Cold War-era records regarding “green fireballs” near sensitive military sites, images of unidentified objects, and descriptions from senior U.S. intelligence about orange spheres spotted during helicopter missions.
The Department of the Army emphasizes that the PURSUE archives contain unresolved cases, meaning there hasn’t been a definitive conclusion regarding the observed phenomena.
Future materials will continue to be released progressively as they are discovered, reviewed, and declassified. The department mentioned, “The Department of the Army is working with President Trump to ensure greater transparency about unidentified anomalous phenomena. These documents, previously concealed, have sparked speculation for years, and now the public deserves to see them.” This reflects a commitment to transparency from the Trump Administration.
