Wembanyama Shines, but Spurs Fall to Thunder in Game 3

In the first couple of games of the Western Conference Finals, Spurs star Victor Wembanyama has shown impressive stats, reaching levels not witnessed at this stage of the playoffs for almost five decades. As the series continued to San Antonio for Game 3 on Friday, he led the Spurs again, scoring 26 points. But, it wasn’t enough to help the Spurs take a 2-1 lead against the reigning champions, the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Meanwhile, Thunder’s back-to-back MVP, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, also scored 26 points, which propelled Oklahoma City to a 123-108 win.

After Game 2, Spurs guard Stephon Castle noted that the team truly thrives in front of their home crowd. That sentiment was palpable as they raced to a 15-0 start in their first home game of the series, with the fans creating an electrifying atmosphere. Just five minutes into the game, the Spurs held a solid 19-4 lead.

However, the Thunder’s bench played an essential role in their comeback, as players like Alex Caruso, Jaylin Williams, Jared McCain, and Kason Wallace fueled Oklahoma City’s momentum.

In the previous games, the Spurs relied on Wembanyama’s remarkable performance, who scored 41 points and grabbed 24 rebounds in Game 1. In contrast, Gilgeous-Alexander led the Thunder with a 30-point game in their win in Game 2.
