Kyle Larson's son shows support for Brexton Busch in a heartfelt moment during the Coca-Cola 600 that pays tribute to Kyle.

During the Coca-Cola 600, NASCAR driver Kyle Larson’s son, Owen, offered comfort to Brexton Busch, who is mourning the loss of his father, Kyle Busch. Kyle Busch passed away on Thursday due to severe pneumonia that led to sepsis.

Prior to a moment of silence before the race, the two 11-year-olds shared a heartfelt embrace on the infield at Charlotte Motor Speedway. A video of this touching interaction has quickly gained attention online.

Brexton, wearing his father’s No. 8 hat, was accompanied by his mother, Samantha, as NASCAR President Steve O’Donnell conducted a memorial service for the two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion.

On the eighth lap of the race, an emotional silence fell over the crowd as fans raised eight fingers in tribute to Busch.

Also present were Busch’s 4-year-old daughter, Lennix, along with his parents, Tom and Gaye, and his older brother, Kurt Busch, who is a NASCAR Hall of Famer.

Kyle Busch died at the age of 41 on May 21, shortly after being hospitalized for what was described as a serious illness, according to a statement from his family in collaboration with Richard Childress Racing and NASCAR.

He had started preparing for the Coca-Cola 600 when he became ill.

According to the family’s announcement on Saturday, the cause of death was severe pneumonia that advanced to sepsis.

“The medical evaluation informed to the Bush family concluded that severe pneumonia progressed to sepsis, resulting in rapid and overwhelming complications,” the family stated. “They request understanding and privacy as they navigate this challenging time.”

Richard Childress Racing has set aside the No. 8 for Brexton when he chooses to enter NASCAR in the future.
