Dallas Cowboys Coach Moves Closer to Work
Since 2009, the Dallas Cowboys have called AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, their home for games. For the last decade, the team’s headquarters and training center have been located at The Star in Frisco, roughly 36 miles away.
In the midst of this, second-year Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer has been living in McKinney, about a 30-minute drive from the facility. To cut down on his daily travel time, he decided to sell his spacious home in McKinney and find something closer to work.
According to the agent selling Schottenheimer’s former home, the main reason for the move stemmed from its distance to his job. Carrie Himmel, a member of Compass’ sports and entertainment division, noted, “For him, it’s all about time approaching the job. At that level, every minute counts.”
The 5,700-square-foot property was listed for $3.8 million in mid-April. The Collin County Appraisal District estimated its value at nearly $2 million for tax purposes.
Himmel mentioned that the home attracted a buyer quickly. “This is a private, quiet oasis,” she remarked. “Every window, every space in that house faces nature. It was a really special property, and it needed a special buyer. We were fortunate to get it sold so quickly.”
Located about 27 miles from The Star, it’s unclear where Schottenheimer plans to relocate next.
The four-bedroom, four-and-a-half bathroom house, built in 2021, includes amenities like a movie room and an infinity-edge pool, and can accommodate three cars in the garage.
After serving as the defensive coordinator, Schottenheimer was promoted to head coach in January 2025 following Mike McCarthy’s retirement.
The natural surroundings of the home even allowed the Schottenheimers to interact with local wildlife. In a memorable incident during a planning meeting before a game against the Arizona Cardinals, an owl flew in through an open sliding door. They had to call animal control to deal with the unexpected guest.
In Schottenheimer’s inaugural season as coach, the Cowboys ended up with a record of 7 wins, 9 losses, and 1 tie, missing out on the playoffs.
