Hasan Piker Acknowledges That a Tech Leader Connected to China Is Supporting Political Movements in the US

Twitch Streamer Critiques Tech Funders of Political Campaigns

During a recent stream, Hasan Piker, a popular Twitch streamer, highlighted the role of American tech entrepreneurs residing in China as supporters of U.S. political campaigns.

Piker expressed frustration over federal investigations directed at him, asserting in his Monday livestream titled “The Federal Bureau of Investigation is Coming After Me” that the primary focus of the Treasury Department’s inquiry was tech billionaire Neville Roy Singham. According to reports, Singham is linked to various progressive organizations, including CodePink, the ANSWER Coalition, and the Party for Socialism and Liberation (PSL).

“He’s put a lot of money into political campaigns and activism in this country,” Piker pointed out, as noted by a conversation with Fox News’ Asra Nomani.

Congressional investigators have alleged that the organizations connected to Singham act as political entities while still retaining their nonprofit status. Singham, based in Shanghai, has reportedly donated $278 million to pro-communist nonprofits since 2017. A House committee identified him as a donor with “close ties” to the Chinese Communist Party earlier this year.

Following these claims, it was reported that the Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control had issued administrative subpoenas to Piker and CodePink co-founder Medea Benjamin related to their trip to Cuba in March, dubbed the Nuestra America Convoy. This inquiry is looking into potential violations of U.S. sanctions related to financial activities with communist nations.

However, Piker and Benjamin challenged this narrative, both stating that they had not received any subpoenas, contradicting reports from Fox News. Piker mentioned he had only learned about the supposed investigation through various news outlets and had not been approached by federal officials.

In his closing remarks, Piker suggested that these investigations were aimed at discrediting Singham: “They’re trying to sabotage him… That’s the goal here,” he stated.
