Josh Jacobs' court appearance postponed as authorities investigate further into domestic violence claims

The court hearing for Josh Jacobs has been postponed from Wednesday as initially planned. This delay comes after prosecutors indicated they require more time to look into serious allegations concerning the Green Bay Packers running back.

Jacobs was taken into custody earlier this week due to a domestic violence incident that reportedly occurred on May 23. He was meant to appear in Brown County Circuit Court in Wisconsin at 2 p.m.

Brown County District Attorney David L. Lacey explained in a statement that the hearing was canceled after a review of the evidence. He added that the office isn’t ready to make a formal charging decision yet, noting the need for further investigation to uncover possibly impactful evidence regarding the charges.

Jacobs, who faced charges including assault, criminal damage to property, and strangulation, was released from Brown County Jail at 12:20 p.m. on Wednesday.

While specific details regarding the accusations against him weren’t disclosed, Jacobs’ attorneys asserted on Tuesday that he vehemently denies them. They expressed their satisfaction with the district attorney’s choice not to file charges at this point.

The attorneys remarked, “We encourage everyone to maintain an open mindset until this situation is thoroughly examined. We believe that once all evidence is reviewed, it will reveal that no additional charges should be directed at Josh.”

Officials from Brown County Circuit Court informed that if prosecutors decide to proceed with formal charges, they will notify Jacobs via mail about when to appear in court.

Lacey confirmed that the investigation remains active, stating no further comments would be offered at this time.
