Stephanie Pratt Changes Stance on Brother’s Mayoral Bid

Stephanie Pratt has shifted her perspective on whether her brother, Spencer Pratt, is suitable for the role of mayor in Los Angeles.

“I was the first to call people who support my brother idiots,” she said in a statement sent to Vanity Fair. But, she now acknowledges, “Wow, was I wrong?” This change comes as Spencer investigates corruption allegations tied to the destructive Palisades fire that impacted her home last year.

“He’s dedicated every day since the fire to uncovering facts and truths that he never wanted us to know,” she added.

Spencer’s representative did not immediately respond to requests for comment on Wednesday.

Previously, Stephanie, 40, had criticized her brother’s aggressive campaign for the upcoming June 2 election. Back in February, she expressed doubt about his qualifications, noting, “Mr. Spencer has handled things well on the fence, but Los Angeles deserves a more experienced mayor.”

She suggested that his ambitions were more about remaining famous and promoting his memoir, cautioning, “Don’t be fooled.” In what she later deleted, she mused, “In an ideal world, there would be a mayor and a police officer on each fence.”

She raised concerns about his suitability, arguing, “At the very least, hire someone with a track record and not someone who’s involved in a cult.” Her worries extend beyond her brother, stating, “I’m worried about Los Angeles. I’m fine with Spencer being in government, but our city needs help.”

The reality star, who shares two children with wife Heidi Montag, announced his candidacy on January 7, marking the anniversary of the tragic wildfires that left 12 dead in Pacific Palisades and Altadena.

Spencer has described the system in Los Angeles as “fundamentally broken,” emphasizing this point during public demonstrations.

Since he declared his candidacy, some celebrities like Katharine McPhee and David Foster have shown their support through fundraising efforts, while others, including Drew Carey and Lisa Rinna, have spoken out against him.

Carey advised voters to reconsider, saying, “It’s understandable to be angry and frustrated, but support someone who is competent rather than a serial cheater lacking moral integrity.”
