Trump Commends Ken Paxton and Appreciates John Cornyn

Former President Donald Trump expressed his congratulations to Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton for winning the Republican Senate nomination in Texas, while also acknowledging outgoing Senator John Cornyn (R-Texas) for his efforts.

Following his endorsement of Paxton in last week’s primary runoff, Trump shared his thoughts on Truth Social on Wednesday morning.

“I want to congratulate Ken Paxton on such a great victory, and congratulations to John Cornyn for running such a strong race, but more importantly, for having a great career,” Trump stated.

He continued, saying, “John will always be a friend of mine, as we both watch as Ken becomes a wonderful, common-sense senator respected by all.”

Trump quickly criticized Paxton’s upcoming general election opponent, Democrat James Talarico, likening him to the cartoon character Alfred E. Neuman.

“His opponent, Alfred E. Neuman, may be the worst Texas candidate I’ve ever seen. A strong advocate for open borders, he’s lenient on crime, believes there are six genders, and hardly supports the military. He was a big mask-wearer until recently and prefers a vegan lifestyle, which isn’t likely to resonate with voters in Texas.”

Additionally, Trump commented that Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas), who lost to Talarico in the Democratic primary, would have been a more viable candidate for the Democrats in the general election.

“Jasmine Crockett, someone with, shall we say, a low IQ and no ties to the legendary Davy Crockett, would have been a far better option for the Democratic Party,” he remarked.

As the general election approaches, Trump announced plans for a “big, beautiful rally” to support Paxton, adding, “This is going to be fun!”

In the recent runoff election, Paxton decisively won with 63.8% of the votes compared to Cornyn’s 36.2%, which translates to over 95% support. According to live election results from a major news source, Cornyn’s approval ratings had seen a significant decline since the March primary.

During this election, he received 910,382 votes among a crowded field that included Rep. Wesley Hunt (R-Texas). Reports indicate he garnered 501,725 votes in the runoff, reflecting a high turnout rate.
