Trump Resubmits Lawsuit Against WSJ Regarding Epstein 'Birthday Card'

Trump Reinstates Lawsuit Over Alleged Obscene Birthday Card

President Donald Trump has brought back a lawsuit against the United States regarding claims that he sent an inappropriate birthday card to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein back in 2003.

The allegations, initially reported last year, were detailed by a publication, which mentioned that the card featured “several lines of typewritten text surrounded by the outline of a naked woman sketched in marker” to celebrate Epstein’s 50th birthday.

Reportedly, the card also had an illustration that included two small arcs meant to represent breasts, with Trump’s signature placed below, resembling pubic hair.

In response to these claims, Trump stated, “This is not me. This is fake. This is a fake article from the Wall Street Journal. I’ve never drawn a picture in my life. I don’t draw pictures of women. That’s not my language. That’s not my word.” Following that, he announced plans to sue the publication.

Trump conveyed on Truth Social that both the Wall Street Journal and Rupert Murdoch were clearly informed that the alleged letter was fraudulent and warned about potential legal action if it was published.

Vice President J.D. Vance also refuted the accusations, labeling them as “complete and utter nonsense.”

The District Judge Darrin Gales, overseeing the case in the Southern District of Florida, previously dismissed the defamation suit by arguing it did not demonstrate “actual malice,” which is required for public figures to sue for defamation. Nevertheless, Trump has now re-filed the defamation lawsuit, seeking $10 billion, claiming that he has endured significant financial and reputational harm due to the “defamatory” allegations in the report.

The White House continues to deny the accusations. In September, Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt addressed the matter, stating: “The latest article published by the Wall Street Journal proves that this entire ‘birthday card’ story is false. As I’ve mentioned before, President Trump clearly did not paint this painting and did not sign it.”

She added that Trump’s legal team would pursue the case vigorously and criticized the reporter who wrote the article for not allowing the Trump team to respond before publishing, framing the story as a deceitful narrative aimed at perpetuating a falsehood related to Epstein.
