Trump Comments on Jackson Dart’s Growing Popularity
President Donald Trump is aware of the backlash he’s faced from some left-leaning media, NFL fans, and even teammates regarding his introduction of quarterback Jackson Dart at a recent rally. It seems he believes himself to be on par with the New York Giants player.
“So when Jackson gets a bit of criticism, he actually becomes more popular,” Trump said in an interview with Lara Trump on “My View with Lara Trump,” set to air Saturday. He added, “Because we have more supporters than they do.”
Trump shared a story about how many wealthy people he encounters in Los Angeles will approach him and say, “Sir, I voted for you.” He said that he understands these sentiments well—“Everyone voted for me,” he quipped.
“The people who keep criticizing me on TV are, in fact, my supporters,” he claimed.
Interestingly, Trump and Dart only met for the first time at a rally held at Rockland Community College. During that event, Trump made a light-hearted remark about Dart’s good looks, something he tends to do with athletes. “I wish I looked just like Jackson,” he said, playfully questioning if Dart might be a male model. “He’s a handsome guy—seems really impressive, and apparently, he leans conservative.”
During their conversation, Dart reportedly expressed admiration, saying, “I love you, sir.”
This situation might not sit well with some leftists and groups critical of Trump. Additionally, NFL linebacker Abdul Carter, who has been vocal about his disapproval of Trump, likely won’t be thrilled with Dart’s association either.
What did the Carters really anticipate?
At just 23, Dart is a conservative figure from Utah, openly identifying with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He’s enjoyed outdoor activities like hunting and fishing, alongside his college football journey at Ole Miss.
Yes, Dart certainly identifies as a conservative.
Trump, who arguably has a strong interest in sports, sees considerable potential in Dart as he prepares for his second NFL season. “He’s a potentially great quarterback,” Trump remarked. “He’s just getting started, but he really makes an impact when he’s on the field. I didn’t know him before, but watching him a bit has shown me he can move a team. If he stays healthy, I believe he’ll become a great player.”
