Trump likens Democratic Senate candidate to MAD Magazine's Alfred E. Neuman

Trump Critiques Talarico, Backs Paxton in Texas Race

On Wednesday, President Donald Trump made a rather colorful comparison, likening Democratic Texas Senate candidate James Talarico to the iconic MAD Magazine character, Alfred E. Neuman. At the same time, he expressed his intention to campaign for his Republican contender, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton.

Paxton, endorsed by Trump only a week prior, emerged victorious in a runoff election against long-serving Republican Senator John Cornyn. Following the win, Trump celebrated Paxton’s “amazing victory” on Truth Social, while also commending Cornyn for his solid campaign and notable career.

“My opponent, Alfred E. Neuman, might just be the worst candidate I’ve seen in Texas,” Trump remarked, targeting Talarico.

He went on to critique Talarico’s platform: “If you support open borders, ignore the crime it breeds, advocate for six genders, insult Jesus Christ, neglect military support, are known for mask-wearing, and embrace a vegan lifestyle that hates meat, well, that’s not exactly a winning strategy in Texas,” Trump stated.

Talarico’s campaign did not provide an immediate comment in response to Trump’s remarks.

Interestingly, this isn’t the first time Trump has drawn this comparison. He previously likened Pete Buttigieg to Alfred E. Neuman during the 2019 presidential race.

Additionally, Trump mentioned that “Jasmine Crockett, someone really lacking in intelligence and connection to Davy Crockett, would have been a better pick for the Democrats.” He added excitement for his upcoming rallies in support of Paxton, saying, “Texas, this is going to be fun!”

Talarico, who recently surpassed Crockett—an outspoken Trump critic—in the March primary, is aiming to be the first Democrat to win a Senate seat in Texas in almost 40 years.

Furthermore, Talarico’s campaign took to social media to highlight Paxton’s legal troubles, stating, “He has been indicted on three felony counts of investment fraud, reported to the FBI by his own team for bribery, and impeached by his own party over corruption charges.”

In closing, Talarico’s campaign asserted, “He is now the Republican nominee for the Texas Senate, and we will work together to stop him.”
