Rod Stewart Cancels Las Vegas Concerts Due to Health Issues

Rod Stewart has canceled two scheduled concerts in Las Vegas, just hours before he was set to perform. The 81-year-old rock icon was slated to take the stage at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace on May 29 and 30, but the shows were called off prior to the venue’s opening.

A spokesperson for Stewart stated, “Following medical advice, Rod Stewart has unfortunately canceled his performances at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas on May 29th and 30th, but is scheduled to return for performances on June 2nd.”

In his own words, Stewart expressed his regret, saying, “I’m sorry to my fans’ families. I’m resting my voice while recovering from a sinus infection. I look forward to seeing you at my upcoming show at Caesars Palace or on tour this summer.”

Concerns from Fans

Stewart reportedly feels “devastated” about the situation as it impacts his planned tour dates. There was a sense of disappointment among fans and concert-goers, with one official mentioning he received notice of the cancellation at 5:48 p.m. — just under two hours before the show was meant to start. Another fan humorously remarked, “I feel like the Colosseum is cursed.”

Some comments from the audience suggested it might be time for Stewart to retire — “Anyway, he needs to retire and enjoy the rest of his life in peace,” one said.

No Plans to Retire

Despite the cancellation, Stewart has made it clear that he has no intention of stepping away from music. Following the announcement of what he termed a “farewell tour” in 2024, he noted that while he wouldn’t be undertaking major tours, he wouldn’t stop performing altogether. “This is the end of my extensive world tour, but I have no intention of retiring,” he shared on social media, adding, “I love what I do and I do what I love.”

Looking ahead, Stewart seemed optimistic about his health, stating, “I am healthy, have a full head of hair, and despite my jolly old age of 79, can run 100 meters in 18 seconds.” Last year, he mentioned to an outlet how he stays fit, noting he had knee replacement surgery but still maintains an active lifestyle with a trainer he’s worked with for nearly four decades. Stewart described his workouts, including underwater training, which he finds both challenging and enjoyable.

In his words, “I learned how to step out and got it down to 19 seconds,” he joked, “I’ll try to run in the 17-second range. I think this is an 80-year-old world record.”
