Willow Nightingale Vacates TBS Championship Due to Injury

All Elite Wrestling (AEW) star Willow Nightingale has had to vacate her TBS Championship due to an injury and will also be absent from the Owen Hart Tournament.

During Saturday’s episode of “Collision,” it was revealed that AEW will hold its inaugural Survival of the Fittest match soon, where a new champion will be declared.

Survival of the Fittest, typically associated with Ring of Honor, involves multiple competitors in an elimination format—the last participant standing is declared the winner. Interestingly, the Women’s World Championship had featured this format during Ring of Honor’s Supercard of Honor, where Athena successfully defended her title.

The new champion is set to be announced on the July 1st edition of “Dynamite.” Six matches will take place to determine who will compete in this upcoming event.

Nightingale held the title for 140 days after defeating Mercedes Mone at “Dynamite: New Year’s Smash,” marking her second reign as champion. The TBS Championship has been regarded alongside the TNT Championship as a significant title for female wrestlers outside of the main event spotlight.

In other news, Konosuke Takeshita successfully defended the AEW International Championship against Daniel Garcia, just after defeating Kazuchika Okada at Double or Nothing. Following the match, Takeshita was confronted by members of the Don Callis family, suggesting some tension within their ranks.

Meanwhile, Jon Moxley faced an assault while commentating, involved in a chaotic scene as other wrestlers, including “Speedball” Mike Bailey and Orange Cassidy, rushed to help Takeshita during a brawl that lingered throughout “Collision.”

In match results, Orange Cassidy, Roderick Strong, and Kyle O’Reilly managed to retain the AEW World Trios Championship against Rocky Romero, Trent Baretta, and Lance Archer. In a separate eliminator match for the AEW Women’s Tag Team Championship, Tay Mero and Anna Jay emerged victorious over Megan Bayne and Lena Cross.

Other matches included Hazuki defeating Mayan World, Lee Moriarty overcoming Tim Bosby, and Jon Moxley teaming with Pac to defeat Shawn Dean and Carly Bravo. Additionally, David Finlay and Clark Connors triumphed over Austin Gunn and Kolten Gunn, while Brian Cage and Jack Doyle defeated Jimmy Wilde and Tommy Mars.

Konosuke Takeshita also defeated Daniel Garcia in another highly anticipated matchup.
