Stephen A. Smith criticizes Jill Biden for defending Joe amid concerns he might have had a stroke: 'Truly upset me'

Sportscaster Stephen A. Smith expressed strong criticism on Sunday toward former First Lady Jill Biden for her defense of her husband during a shaky performance in the 2024 presidential debate, leading some to speculate he may have suffered a stroke.

Smith targeted Jill’s surprising admission in a recent interview, accusing her and Democratic leaders of misleading the public when they addressed President Joe Biden’s evident mental decline.

“That last part really, really disturbed me and really bothered me,” the outspoken political commentator remarked to former Governor Andrew Cuomo on WABC radio’s “Pulse of the People,” referring to Jill’s statements.

After the debate, Jill surprisingly congratulated her husband, claiming, “Joe, you did a really great job. You answered all the questions, you knew all the facts.”

Smith was incensed, stating, “That’s when his wife came out and praised his efforts, saying he was great, answered all her questions and everything else.” This, he argues, only adds to the impression that Democrats are perceived as “dishonest, not proactive, not open,” as they try to control the narrative in a manipulative way.

He reminisced about how he had publicly backed a new presidential candidate upon witnessing Biden’s decline.

“They had a chance to get rid of Trump and position themselves with a strong candidate to challenge him the right way,” he noted.

While he mentioned that he wasn’t necessarily stating Kamala Harris was the wrong choice, he did suggest that the manner in which she became the nominee was flawed.

The sportscaster, who hinted at a possible presidential run in 2028, pointed out that Biden’s unexpected success in the 2022 midterms may have given him the confidence to seek reelection.

Cuomo also voiced his dissatisfaction with Biden’s defenders, labeling them “all crackpots,” and acknowledging that the public recognized the issues during Biden’s performance.

He criticized Jill’s silence regarding her husband, suggesting it diminishes the credibility of the Democratic Party, which should champion truth and courage.

Both Cuomo and Smith conveyed their discontent with the Republican Party, emphasizing their differences with Trump and suggesting that Democrats must focus on presenting a positive agenda, rather than solely attacking Trump.

Smith remarked, “When you look at the Democratic Party and talk about credibility, the issues are deep. You lack credibility because you are focused on the wrong things.”

This sentiment was echoed by Cuomo, who urged Democrats to clearly articulate their goals to voters instead of only critiquing the opposing party.
