Mitchell Robinson joins Knicks' practice while his status for Game 1 remains unclear

Mitchell Robinson’s Progress After Injury

It’s a small but hopeful development.

Mitchell Robinson was present at practice on Sunday, following a break in his left little finger.

Coach Mike Brown mentioned that the talented center engaged in some individual drills.

However, Brown also indicated that Robinson’s availability for Game 1 of the NBA Finals on Wednesday in San Antonio remains uncertain, as reported by Stephen Bondi from the Post.

Robinson suffered a fracture in his fifth metacarpal, connecting his wrist to his little finger. He underwent surgery last week and had some kind of protective gear on his hand.

Brown confirmed that the injury didn’t occur during a game or practice.

How exactly he got hurt, though, is still a bit of a mystery.

The Knicks have opted not to share further details about the fracture’s cause.

Robinson expressed his gratitude on Instagram, thanking everyone for their support during this challenging time. He shared a photo of himself entering the Cavs’ arena, saying, “This makes it easier to deal with all the competition.”

He then added a bit of edge with a message directed at detractors: “To those who try to bring me down and hurt me, all I want to say to you is, well, you know… But, I will always be there for you when you need me.”

Robinson plays a crucial role as the Knicks’ top offensive rebounder and rim protector, especially important when facing San Antonio’s Victor Wembanyama.

He also provides valuable support for starting center Karl-Anthony Towns, who often finds himself dealing with foul issues.

McBride’s Insight on Dylan Harper

Miles McBride has a connection with Ron Harper Jr., who is the older brother of Spurs guard Dylan Harper. Their fathers were both stars at Ohio State—Ron Harper at Miami, Ohio, and Walt McBride at Xavier.

He’s been watching Dylan, a former Rutgers guard and a standout high school prospect from Don Bosco Prep in New Jersey, and is impressed. “I feel like he’s a gamer,” McBride noted. “He’s the type who’s always ready to compete, just like playing in the backyard growing up. I have an older brother, so I know that feeling of trying to learn from bigger players. You live for moments like this.”
