U.S. forces executed a significant strike on a ship in the Pacific Ocean on Saturday, resulting in the deaths of several individuals identified as “narco-terrorists,” according to the U.S. Southern Command.
This operation, which claimed the lives of three people, was part of a series of four military actions announced by Southcom last week.
On May 30, under the direction of Southcom Commander Gen. Francis L. Donovan, Joint Task Force Southern Spear carried out a lethal strike against a vessel linked to a designated terrorist group. Intelligence indicated that the ship was traversing known drug trafficking paths in the Eastern Pacific Ocean and was actively engaged in drug smuggling. The operation resulted in the elimination of three male narco-terrorists, and, importantly, there were no U.S. casualties.
According to Southcom, three men were killed during a strike on Friday, while two were killed in a separate strike on Wednesday. Additionally, there was an airstrike on Tuesday that resulted in one fatality, although two people survived. In that instance, one male narco-terrorist was killed, and U.S. Southern Command reported that they quickly coordinated with the U.S. Coast Guard for rescue efforts.
Last weekend, the U.S. also performed what it described as a “self-defense strike” targeting Iranian assets.
U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) conducted self-defense strikes against Iranian radar and drone command sites located on Goruk and Qeshm Islands, Iran. This response came after aggressive Iranian actions, like the downing of a U.S. MQ-1 drone in international waters. The strikes, which took place over the weekend, targeted Iranian air defenses, control stations, and drones considered a threat to maritime activities. U.S. military personnel were unharmed during these actions, and CENTCOM stated it would continue to defend U.S. interests amid ongoing tensions.
In a further escalation, at around 11 p.m. ET the previous night, the U.S. military intercepted two Iranian ballistic missiles aimed at forces in Kuwait. These missiles were successfully destroyed without any U.S. military personnel sustaining injuries. CENTCOM reiterated its commitment to protecting U.S. forces while maintaining an ongoing ceasefire.
