Texas Police Investigate Disturbing Scene at Home

Authorities in Texas responded to a report of a strange smell coming from a home, described as smelling “like death.” Upon arrival, they discovered alarming conditions inside.

Reports indicated that two young children were found in a bathtub that was partially filled with sewage. The dwelling was littered with trash, feces, and maggots.

The officers noted that the children appeared unkempt and carried an overwhelming odor of “urine, feces, body odor, and stagnant water.” Disturbingly, it was revealed that the children, aged 8 and 10, had never attended school and did not possess basic reading or writing skills.

Police visited the home on Yonge Avenue on May 20 after a concerned individual reported the awful odor and the absence of the residents. Initially, when they knocked on doors and windows, no one responded. A fly on the window increased their concern, leading them to suspect a possible death inside.

Upon forcing entry, they encountered 34-year-old Michael Robbins and 68-year-old John Robbins at the entrance. A thorough search of the house revealed every surface covered in trash, rodent droppings, decaying food, and more maggots.

Then came the horrifying discovery of the two children. Their hair was unkempt, and they were visibly infested with bugs. When instructed to change clothes, they returned in foul-smelling garments marked with food stains. Alarmingly, one child had a rotten adult tooth in their mouth.

It became evident that the children had not been properly cared for; police determined they were left to fend for themselves.

The children were promptly taken to McLean Children’s Hospital for medical care.

Neighbors informed police that they hadn’t seen the children in years, raising further questions about the situation.

Michael and John Robbins are now facing charges of intentional abandonment or endangerment of a child, with each held on a bond of $60,000.

Temple, where the incident occurred, is a city of around 82,000 residents, situated 130 miles north of Austin.
