People in Britain Demonstrate Outside Police Station Calling for Justice for Henry Nowak

Protests Erupt in Southampton After Police Body Camera Footage Released

On Tuesday night, hundreds gathered outside Southampton Central Police Station as tensions rose following the release of body camera footage showing officers handcuffing 18-year-old Henry Nowak, who died from blood loss while pleading for help.

Chanting Nowak’s last words, “I can’t breathe,” demonstrators filled the streets, seeking justice for a student slain last year by 23-year-old Vikrum Dighwa with a ceremonial Sikh knife. At the incident’s onset, officers were misled by Dighwa’s family, who falsely claimed that Nowak had been racially abusive.

Despite Nowak’s evident distress and his repeated claims of having been stabbed, authorities chose to trust Dighwa’s account, restraining the injured teen rather than his assailant. The release of this footage by Hampshire police has ignited widespread outrage, with some observers, including Reform UK leader Nigel Farage, attributing blame to anti-white racism.

Local reports indicated that over 300 individuals assembled outside the police station, brandishing signs that read “Police from Prison 4 are on the scene,” “We want justice,” and “Save our children.”

A local resident expressed their frustration: “I came here for Henry. I saw the footage of him being handcuffed and dragged across the floor after he was stabbed. I want police accountability. It’s infuriating to see them in uniform. We’re not looking for trouble, but emotions are high.”

Among the protesters was well-known activist Tommy Robinson, who claimed that Nowak’s death was a clear indication of racial prejudice.

“I’ve been speaking about this for two decades. You can become a target of a racial gang, and police respond by targeting white individuals. This has been a recurring pattern,” he stated. Robinson further described the footage as a reflection of broader societal disparities in treatment based on race.

He called for the arresting officer to face imprisonment instead of simply resigning, emphasizing, “We want him jailed for what he did. Police shouldn’t escape responsibility for allowing generations to suffer.”

As the demonstration progressed, some attendees moved towards the site of Nowak’s murder, which is also near the Dighwa family’s residence. Reports suggest that clashes erupted between protesters and police in riot gear, leading to projectiles being thrown.

In the political arena, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer appeared to be positioning himself against Farage, accusing him of inciting division following Nowak’s death. This tactic mirrors previous challenges faced by Starmer’s administration after the murder of three girls in Southport.
