Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino Eyes New Jersey Governor Run

Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino, known for his role on “Jersey Shore,” has hinted that he might pursue a future political career as governor of New Jersey.

The 43-year-old reality star shared his aspirations during a conversation with VUE Magazine at a Spring Issue event. He expressed a desire to collaborate with the Archangels Center to make a difference, stating, “We want to work with Archangels Center to save lives over the next three to five years. We want to create an Archangel Center in each of the 50 states.” He teased that his future plans might lead him to the governor’s office eventually.

While he didn’t specify which political party he would represent, he conveyed a belief that many New Jerseyans are looking for relief from rising property taxes.

Sorrentino gained fame through “Jersey Shore,” which aired on MTV from 2009 to 2012 with a later reboot in 2018 called “Jersey Shore: Family Vacation.” The show featured a group of young adults living together and often creating drama, which captivated viewers.

In the years post-show, he faced personal challenges, including struggles with addiction, spending time in rehabilitation for painkiller dependency between 2012 and 2015. He celebrated his tenth year of sobriety in December 2025 and credited his wife for playing a vital role in his recovery journey. He mentioned, “This year marks my 11th year of sobriety,” reflecting on how his experiences shaped his current outlook.

Sorrentino co-founded the Archangel Center with his wife in 2024, aiming to provide recovery and treatment resources and support those in need. He’s determined to use his platform to help others, stating, “I love being on TV, but I love helping people even more.”

He’s turned his past into a strength, hoping to serve as inspiration for those facing similar battles, saying, “I never got anything I prayed for until I was the kind of person who could receive it.” He has also authored a book detailing his life and recovery journey.

Interestingly, along with overcoming addiction, Sorrentino previously served time in federal prison for tax evasion, showcasing a remarkable turnaround in his life. He noted, “Today, I am happily married, have three wonderful children, and a published book.”
