Alvin Kamara Maintains Positive Relationship with Saints
Alvin Kamara has expressed that he maintains a good relationship with the Saints, despite not attending the team’s voluntary workouts this offseason. His absence is due to uncertainties about his future with the organization, although he did show up for OTA practices and meetings recently.
“I don’t feel like there’s any beef or bad blood on my side,” Kamara shared, according to a report. “We will do what we do every year. Work… I do what I do every year. I’m going to train, get ready, and see what happens.”
The 30-year-old has been a key player for the Saints in recent years. However, his position has become less certain following the signing of Travis Etienne, a former Jaguar and 1,000-yard rusher, by general manager Mickey Loomis in March.
While the Saints have not yet confirmed Kamara’s presence for their Week 1 lineup, head coach Kellen Moore seems optimistic about his potential fit within the team’s offense.
Kamara is entering the final year of his contract. “Alvin came here today. He’s here. So we’re going to go through the accolade process and work with him,” Moore said. “It’s nice to meet him; I just met him at the team meeting when we started.”
Originally drafted in the third round out of Tennessee in 2017, Kamara has been the driving force behind the Saints’ offense, even as they continue to search for a stable quarterback following Drew Brees’ retirement.
While he hasn’t recorded 1,000 rushing yards in a season, Kamara has proven to be an effective receiver. In 2025, he only managed 186 receiving yards and played in just 11 games, but he achieved nearly 1,500 scrimmage yards in 2024.
Over his career, he has amassed a total of 4,948 receiving yards over 126 games.
Despite a rocky start to last season, where they began with a 2-10 record, New Orleans managed to rally and win four of their last five games, finishing at 6-11. Kamara’s last game was on November 23rd.
The Saints are set to kick off their 2026 season on September 13th against the Lions.
