A tragic incident occurred when a single mother of two, Alyssa Hill, was fatally stabbed by her ex-boyfriend while she was working at Skyline Chili in Norwood, Ohio. Police report that 37-year-old Rick Wright attacked Hill, 27, stabbing her in the back as she served customers.
Frantic calls to 911 were made by co-workers and diners as Wright fled the scene. Hill was quickly transported to a nearby hospital, but sadly, she did not survive her injuries.
Authorities later apprehended Wright at a nearby bank, where he was seen leaving and waving at bystanders, according to witness Taylor Speigel.
Wright had a criminal history, including a conviction for assaulting a police officer, and was on probation at the time of this incident. His past also included charges for assault, drug trafficking, and robbery, based on court documents.
According to a GoFundMe created by friends, Hill was the main caregiver for her two young children and worked tirelessly, often seven days a week, to provide for them and help with her father’s medical expenses.
Kayla Elliott, a friend of Hill’s, shared how dedicated she was to those around her. “She had such a kind heart and always seemed to know just what to say when someone needed encouragement,” Elliott said, emphasizing how much family meant to Hill.
Tessa Lowery, Hill’s best friend from childhood, mentioned that Hill had recognized troubling signs in her relationship with Wright and had ended it. “She noticed all the red flags and did everything right,” Lowery noted.
Wright faces charges of assault and murder and is currently held in Hamilton County Jail without bond following a court arraignment.
