Former Officials Question the Reasons Behind the Bidens' Book Releases

In a week’s time, Jill Biden’s memoir has sparked controversy for her family and the Democratic Party. Former officials are now questioning the timing of her husband’s book release, which coincides with the lead-up to the midterm elections.

Jill’s memoir, launched on Tuesday, recounts her experiences in the White House and defends Joe Biden’s presidency. While promoting the book, she faced tough media scrutiny, dealing with inquiries about her husband’s fitness for office and whether she genuinely believes he has health issues related to the 2024 election.

Interestingly, Joe Biden made an appearance at one of these book events, where Jill seemed somewhat frail and mentioned her book’s upcoming release in September—just ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.

Some former staffers from the Biden and Harris administrations expressed their apprehension regarding this timing to the Daily Caller. One official remarked that discussions around 2024 have not been beneficial, leaning towards neutral or negative rather than instigating any positivity. Another staff member suggested that releasing the memoir now is better than doing so during the next presidential term when discussions about Biden and his administration would be more organic.

As the 2026 midterm elections approach, the Republican Party appears to be in a difficult spot. The ongoing conflict with Iran in the Middle East and persistent high prices complicate their position. Conversely, while Democrats seem focused on Trump’s past presidency, they aren’t exactly in a strong standing either.

Jill Biden’s book brings back discussion about the painful moments that led to Trump’s victory in 2024. In her first interview for the memoir, she mentioned contemplating the possibility that her husband had suffered a stroke during a particularly contentious debate with Trump. Social media users quickly noted that she had gone to Waffle House with him afterward, raising questions about her initial concerns.

One former White House press secretary reflected on the situation, noting the painful nature of revisiting those discussions for the party. “We’re in a situation where we didn’t win, and I often think about it. However, I don’t understand why we need to bring this up publicly now,” he stated.

Nevertheless, he mentioned that the upcoming midterms would reflect the broken promises made by Republicans—particularly regarding inflation and ongoing conflicts—implying that the electorate is becoming aware of the corruption associated with Trump and Congress as evidenced by dropping approval ratings.

After their departure from the White House, reports emerged that the Bidens were looking to re-engage politically. Joe Biden is rumored to be writing a book, although details remain scant. He confirmed a September publication date, but concerns linger among former officials. “There’s apprehension about the state of Joe Biden’s book. I fear it could have a negative tone. By September, it might turn out that way,” shared one ex-official.
