Hasan Piker claims that California liberals desire ‘homo-fascism’

Hasan Piker sparks controversy among Democrats as some criticize his remarks.

On Tuesday, left-leaning Twitch streamer Hasan Piker voiced his concerns about California politics, suggesting that the state is leaning towards what he described as “homofascism.” This came after his chosen candidate fell behind in the primaries, unable to advance against a gay Democratic state senator.

Piker expressed his disappointment about Saikat Chakrabarti, who previously served as chief of staff for Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, not progressing in the California primary aimed at replacing former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Instead, the election will feature San Francisco City Supervisor Connie Chung and California Senator Scott Wiener, who currently leads with around 41% of the vote.

In his remarks, Piker criticized both San Francisco and California as not being as progressive as they could be. He claimed that liberal values there seem to focus on “gay fascism” due to Wiener’s sexuality.

Piker stated, “It’s just rich liberals who want homofascism in this country, that’s really it. They want gay fascism. They want gay techno-fascism.” In another stream, he elaborated on his views, arguing that California’s so-called “wokeness” seems to revolve only around LGBTQ rights and abortion, not addressing other societal issues.

“I think California liberalism, it starts and ends with protecting abortion and LGBTQ rights, and that’s pretty much it. There are limits to how far they go with their woke agenda, and that’s just the truth,” he commented.

He went on to express his frustration with policies affecting homelessness and housing prices, critiquing the lack of genuine economic development. “They don’t care if an apartment costs seven million dollars. Even the cheapest apartments are outrageous. It’s not good,” he noted.

During a broadcast, Piker also expressed dissatisfaction with Wiener regarding his comments on Israel, suggesting that Wiener was not sincere when he claimed Israel was guilty of genocide. Piker remarked, “What troubles me is that he says Israel committed genocide, but he doesn’t truly believe that and is just saying it to gain support after years of backing Israel.” He accused Wiener of being the “worst type of machine politician.”

Aside from endorsing Chakrabarti, Piker also featured California gubernatorial candidate Tom Steyer and Los Angeles mayoral candidate Nithya Raman on his broadcast prior to the primary, although both candidates were not performing well in the polls.
