Buffalo Wild Wings criticized for proposal to fan who entered the court during Knicks-Spurs NBA Finals game

Buffalo Wild Wings Faces Backlash After Fan Incident

Perhaps it’s time for Buffalo Wild Wings to reconsider their marketing approach.

They recently found themselves in hot water after suspending Game 1 of the NBA Finals and offering to host a Spurs fan who was arrested for running onto the court to snap a selfie with Victor Wembanyama and Mitchell Robinson during the Knicks’ 105-95 victory.

The company took to social media, asking, “Internet, help me find the banned fan so he can watch the rest of the finals at our B-Dubs.”

It’s hard to believe that whoever came up with this idea anticipated the backlash it would generate.

One user on social media reacted, questioning, “Why should we reward this man?”

Another user pointed out an inconsistency, suggesting that military personnel only receive a 10% discount at certain restaurants, while someone who commits a crime receives free dining at Buffalo Wild Wings. “The math just doesn’t add up; it’s embarrassing,” they stated.

Another comment criticized the decision to reward such behavior, asking rhetorically, “Yes, let’s reward the losers for suspending Game 1 of the NBA Finals.”

It seems like Buffalo Wild Wings is trying to leverage individual stories for their marketing, but the NBA doesn’t appear to be on the same comedic wavelength.

The fan who stormed the court has been arrested and permanently banned from all NBA venues, along with another individual involved in the incident, as confirmed by an NBA spokesperson.

During the game, with just over six minutes left and the Knicks leading, a fan approached Wembanyama and Robinson, calling out to the former while attempting to take a photo.

A new video revealed that Wembanyama, standing at 7 feet 4 inches tall, was, in fact, too tall for the selfies the fan desired.

Wembanyama later shared his surprise about the whole event, recalling a previous moment of unexpected excitement involving a bat that crossed the court.
