Caitlin Clark's Fever loses double-digit advantage to Liberty in another troubling breakdown

Caitlin Clark’s Tough Night as Fever Fall to Liberty

Caitlin Clark faced a tough situation on Saturday night when the Indiana Fever, after holding a lead of 12 points in the second half, faltered against the New York Liberty, ultimately losing 83-75. This type of late-game collapse is becoming a worrying trend for Clark’s teams, which have also suffered similar losses earlier this season against teams like the Washington Mystics and the Golden State Valkyries.

Interestingly, the Liberty secured their win without their star player, Sabrina Ionescu, who was out due to an ongoing injury. Clark herself had a rough shooting performance, managing only 4 of 14 from the field and committing three turnovers. It was one of those nights—she’s had better days on the court. In fact, it marked a repeat of her lowest shooting percentage from last season against the Valkyries, where she finished 3 of 14.

However, it wasn’t just Clark struggling; her star teammates Aliyah Boston and Kelsey Mitchell also contributed to the Fever’s downfall, combining for eight turnovers and shooting just 36.1%. As the season progresses, expectations for the Fever were high, particularly with them being viewed as contenders. Yet, after ten games, they’ve fallen short of those aspirations, and head coach Stephanie White is starting to face mounting pressure.

Looking ahead, the Fever’s upcoming game is against the Washington Mystics, and they’ll need to regroup quickly to avoid slipping further down in the Eastern Conference standings.
