CBS Sports reflected on a somber weekend during the PGA Tour Memorial Tournament after experiencing a tragic loss. The network shared the sad news about a “horrific single-car accident” involving one of their tour vehicles on their GoFundMe page.
Production assistant Bryce Adair passed away Saturday morning from injuries sustained in a car crash that took place during an event in Ohio on Wednesday night.
He was only 31 years old.
Details surrounding the accident remain sparse, but it was noted that Adair was taken to Riverside Methodist Hospital, as mentioned in the GoFundMe, which has been set up to help his family.
During the Memorial Tournament broadcast from Dublin, Ohio, Jim Nantz took a moment to honor Adair, visibly affected by the loss. “Please be patient here,” he requested, needing a moment to compose himself. “Today, we face a great loss within the CBS Sports family. In my over 40 years of experience, I have never seen our 250 staff members come to a broadcast with such profound sadness.”
Nantz continued, stating, “This morning, our brilliant and charismatic teammate, Bryce Adair, passed away due to injuries from a car accident while working at the Memorial Tournament on Wednesday night.”
Reflecting on Adair’s character, Nantz added, “Everyone loved him. Bryce brought warmth and kindness with his daily smile. He contributed immensely to our team, winning an Emmy for our Super Bowl coverage, and he was training to become a Steadicam operator.”
“He deserved so much and the world was his for the taking. I want to express my gratitude to his mother, Michelle, for sharing such a wonderful son with us. We loved him, and he will be remembered,” Nantz said earnestly.
Others, like CBS Sports’ Tracy Wolfson, also penned tributes. In a heartfelt post on X, she wrote, “Our CBS family lost a great friend and colleague today. Bryce Adair brought joy to our crew. He was kind and a true gentleman. I’ll always remember his infectious smile and passion for the Eagles and music. I’ll miss those high-fives on the sidelines and our football chats on the way.”
Originally from Martinez, Georgia, just outside of Augusta, Adair studied communications at Valdosta State University in Valdosta, Georgia.
