Marty O'Donnell, who was endorsed by Trump, wins the Nevada GOP primary.

In a recent Republican primary, backed by President Trump, Marty O’Donnell won, positioning him to challenge Democratic Congresswoman Susie Lee in Nevada’s 3rd Congressional District. O’Donnell, best recognized as the composer of the “Halo” and “Destiny” video game series, campaigns on supporting small businesses, enhancing community safety, and prioritizing “family first” values.

This district is notably competitive, with suburban voters often swaying tight elections. Trump previously held this district in both 2016 and 2020, but it flipped to Biden in 2020.

O’Donnell entered the race garnering endorsements from influential Republicans, including Trump and Nevada Governor Joe Lombardo. In one of Trump’s endorsements, he criticized Lee’s positions on various issues, stating, “Susie Lee wants open borders… and she voted against major tax cuts.” He praised O’Donnell as “a world-class composer and entrepreneur” who aligns with America First policies, essential for the nation’s progress.

O’Donnell connected his political efforts to a broader fight against “woke” ideology, which he believes has influenced both gaming and politics. He noted that the recent excitement surrounding the original “Halo” game’s re-release reflects a shift within the gaming industry away from such ideologies.

“I think the backlash against identity politics in gaming is significant now,” he remarked, suggesting that players resist externally imposed narratives that distract from the gaming experience.

The “Halo” franchise highlights humanity’s battle against alien forces and has sold millions of copies, solidifying its place among the most iconic video game series since its launch in 2001.

Despite O’Donnell’s support, Lee has remained in her position since 2019, having narrowly won her congressional seat while many suburban voters backed Trump in the 2024 presidential election. Lee, a former teacher, is firmly against Trump’s proposal to eliminate the Department of Education, advocating instead for increased federal funding for public education and related programs. Describing herself as a moderate, she emphasizes addressing the rising costs of living and healthcare for families.

In contrast, O’Donnell supports stringent border controls and the completion of the border wall, focusing on combating human and drug trafficking. Lee has adjusted her stance on border security but has publicly opposed Trump’s more restrictive immigration policies.
