Bill Gates to Appear Before U.S. Congress Regarding Epstein Connections

Gates to Face Congress Over Epstein Ties

On Wednesday, Bill Gates, the co-founder of Microsoft and one of the wealthiest individuals in the world, is set to meet with U.S. lawmakers to discuss his connections with the late Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted sex offender. This will likely involve questions about what he knew, witnessed, or did regarding Epstein.

Gates is scheduled to appear before the House Oversight Committee, bringing along a transcript of an interview focused on Epstein, who died in a New York jail in 2019 while awaiting trial for charges related to sex trafficking and underage girls.

Previous witnesses have included high-profile figures like former President Bill Clinton, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, billionaire Les Wexner, and Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick.

The committee extended the invitation to Gates after the Justice Department released documents that raised new questions about his interactions with Epstein.

A spokesperson for Gates mentioned that he welcomes the chance to clarify matters and emphasized that he has “never witnessed or participated in Mr. Epstein’s illegal activities.”

Documents related to Epstein contain draft emails from 2013, which imply that Gates may have sought help in handling fallout from an affair, even mentioning a request for antibiotics following a sexually transmitted infection. Gates has dismissed these allegations, claiming the emails are fabricated. In February, he described his association with Epstein as “stupid,” insisting it was unrelated to Epstein’s criminal actions.

Gates expressed regret about any time spent with Epstein, stating, “Every minute I spent with him, I regret doing that and I apologize.” He noted that his involvement was limited to attending a dinner, denying that he had ever visited Epstein’s island or met any women associated with him.

During a recent apology to Gates Foundation staff for the disclosure of his relationship with Epstein, Gates revealed that their association lasted from 2011 to 2014. He also acknowledged having had affairs, one with a Russian bridge player and another with a Russian nuclear physicist.

Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer requested the meeting with Gates in a letter dated March 3, explaining that the committee believes he possesses valuable information pertinent to their investigation.

It’s worth noting that mere appearances in documents related to Epstein do not constitute evidence of any criminal activity.
