U.S. Military Completes Strike Against Iran Following Helicopter Incident

The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) has reported that a military “self-defense strike” targeting Iran has been carried out. This came after a U.S. Army Apache helicopter was shot down.

Among the sites targeted were “Iranian air defense bases, ground control stations, and surveillance radar locations close to the Strait of Hormuz.” CENTCOM mentioned that “precision munitions” were utilized by U.S. Air Force and Navy fighter jets.

“This operation was a proportionate response to recent attacks on U.S. military and international commercial vessels in the area,” CENTCOM noted.

According to their announcement, the airstrike took place at 5 p.m. ET and was executed under orders from President Donald Trump as a response to the helicopter being downed the previous day.

In a tweet, CENTCOM stated, “Following yesterday’s downing of a U.S. Army Apache helicopter, CENTCOM forces, under the direction of the Commander-in-Chief, launched a self-defense strike against Iran at 5:00 pm ET today. This mission is a proportionate response to unjust actions by Iran…”

On Wednesday, President Trump voiced his opinions on Truth Social, making comments about Iran’s military capabilities.

“The Iranian military is a complete and utter mess. Much of it no longer even exists, as well as the navy and air force. Completely defeated. Iran is all talk and no action. The Middle East bully is dead!” he proclaimed.

He went on to highlight the implications if Iran fails to solidify a lasting peace agreement with the U.S.

“They took too long to negotiate a deal that should have been great for them. Now they will have to pay the price!” said the President.

In another post, Trump emphasized that the U.S. blockade of Iranian ports is still in effect.

“The fake news media refuses to report how effective the U.S. naval blockade is, the most successful naval blockade in the history of naval warfare. Nothing progresses unless we want it to. It’s a wall of steel! Iran is not paying its military bills, and it’s rapidly becoming a failed state. It’s leaking a lot of oil,” he stated.

The airstrike on Tuesday followed the incident in which an American Apache helicopter was patrolling off the coast of Oman when it was downed. CENTCOM confirmed that two crew members were rescued safely a few hours later.
