Nvidia Partners with Abridge for AI in Healthcare

Nvidia is joining forces with Abridge to create new artificial intelligence models tailored for the healthcare sector, as initially reported by the Wall Street Journal on Thursday.

Both companies have indicated that these AI models are specifically crafted for clinical dialogues and will be utilized solely on Abridge’s platform. Their purpose is to improve processes like clinical documentation and decision support.

Abridge and Nvidia have not yet responded to inquiries from the Daily Caller News Foundation.

Additionally, these new AI models will be built upon Nvidia’s Open Model Family, known as Nemotron. Kimberly Powell, Nvidia’s vice president of healthcare, shared insights with the WSJ. Open source AI refers to publicly accessible resources that can be used and modified by anyone.

“There was a significant opportunity during the model development phase to tailor these models for clinical intelligence,” Powell mentioned.

According to the WSJ, Nvidia is also an investor in Abridge. The software from Abridge “converts patient-clinician dialogues into context-aware, clinically relevant, and billable AI-generated notes,” based on information from the company’s website.

The WSJ also noted that AI tools are expanding in many hospitals across the United States. A recent study by the Office of the National Health IT Coordinator indicates that by September 2025, 71% of hospitals are expected to report using predictive AI integrated with electronic health records, a rise from 66% in 2023.

A notable example is Tampa General Hospital in Florida, which has succeeded in cutting sepsis-related deaths by half through the use of advanced technology that continuously monitors patients for potential early warning signs, as reported recently.
