Carmelo Anthony and Raquel Smith Spark Online Buzz

On Tuesday, former Knicks players Carmelo Anthony and Raquel Smith drew attention on social media after posting videos and photos of their time together in St. Tropez on Instagram.

Raquel, the widow of Will Smith, who played as an All-Pro defensive end for the New Orleans Saints, tragically lost her husband in a road rage shooting incident back in 2016.

In that same event, she was also shot.

In one of the shared images, Carmelo can be seen with his arm around Raquel’s waist, while another video captures him standing behind her in an elevator.

Raquel’s caption for one of these posts was, “We’re not here long enough to be unhappy,” accompanied by several heart emojis.

It seems she has been subtly hinting at their relationship, though she hasn’t made any direct confirmation yet.

Earlier this week, she also posted a picture of herself enjoying a night out at Nikki Beach in Monte Carlo.

The two were together celebrating Carmelo’s recent 42nd birthday, a moment she shared on her Instagram highlight reel, writing, “Happy birthday to one of the kindest souls I’ve ever met…” with a red heart emoji.

Carmelo, now an NBA analyst for NBC, hasn’t been publicly linked to anyone since his divorce from ex-wife LaLa Anthony in 2021.

LaLa filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences in a letter from Carmelo in June 2021, after years of separation.

Carmelo and LaLa initially crossed paths through mutual friends when they were quite young—she was 22, and he was just 19—before marrying in 2010.

They share a 19-year-old son, Kiyan, who currently works as a security guard at Syracuse University, Carmelo’s alma mater.

Carmelo also has a daughter named Genesis with his former partner, Mia Barks.

After playing for the Lakers until the 2021 season, Carmelo announced his retirement in 2023 following 19 seasons in the NBA.

In a separate case, a jury found Cardel Hayes guilty of manslaughter for the shooting of Will Smith in 2024.
