Jesse James Decker Shares Marriage Advice
In a recent chat at a pre-CMA Fest party he hosted in Nashville, country singer Jesse James Decker talked about what has kept his marriage thriving. He emphasized that a bit of playful flirting goes a long way. “You have to keep the spirit of young love alive,” he said, adding that it requires silliness and playfulness.
Jessie met her husband, former NFL player Eric Decker, in 2011 through mutual friends, and they got engaged a year later. They tied the knot in June 2013 and now have four children: Vivian (12), Eric Jr. (10), Forrest (8), and Denver (2).
Even after 13 years of marriage, Jessie admitted she’s still “crazy in love” with Eric. Interestingly, she’s heard people say that marriage can be hard work, but she hasn’t experienced that herself. “I still look at him with the same goo-goo-gaga eyes I had when we first started,” she shared, expressing gratitude for the enduring affection they share.
In another interview earlier this year, Jessie pointed out that having shared values is crucial for success in a relationship. “We see the world the same way. We love the same things,” she mentioned, noting that this has helped them navigate challenges together.
The couple recently appeared on the reality show “Special Forces: The World’s Toughest Test.” Although they made it to day six before Eric had to withdraw due to an injury, Jessie chose to leave the competition as well. She reflected on how their time on the show actually strengthened their bond.
Looking back on their experiences, Jessie remarked how they had what she believes was one of their best date nights during a layover in London. “It was beautiful,” she recalled, highlighting how tough times can actually draw people closer together.
