Troy Press, who proudly calls himself the “New York Hustler,” is stepping into a prominent role as the in-stadium host for the upcoming World Cup matches at New York/New Jersey Stadium.

Revealed on Friday, he shared that this opportunity has been a long time coming, rooted in his childhood experiences of performing in his Westchester home. “Hosting is really about spreading joy and energy, connecting with people, and creating unforgettable moments,” he said prior to his announcement on Mario Lopez’s show.

Press emphasized, “Sports are like a release for everyone—it’s the chance to be out there with loved ones, sharing the excitement of cheering and celebrating. I want to elevate that communal experience.” He was visibly emotional upon learning that the live show would be happening in April, expressing a mix of joy and disbelief.

While Press has played various sports throughout his life, soccer was never one of them. Yet, he always dreamed of being in the spotlight. “As a kid, I would perform for my family in the basement, charging them for these quirky dance and magic shows. There were even times I put on Michael Jackson performances!” he reminisced.

His distinct talent lies in engaging the audience. In his role as emcee, he will work to maintain the energy, especially during breaks in play. “It’s like preheating an oven to 400 degrees,” he likened it.

Additionally, Press will act as the game’s announcer, relaying crucial information like player stats, injury updates, and insights into the teams’ heritage. He hinted at lighthearted moments too, revealing that fans can look forward to karaoke cameras and trivia games.

This isn’t his first rodeo—he’s spent the last decade as the emcee for the New York City Football Club, entertaining large crowds at Yankee Stadium. His experiences with professional teams like the Knicks and Brooklyn Nets are substantial, though they don’t compare to the anticipated 85,000 fans expected at MetLife Stadium for World Cup events.

“This is the World Cup. The whole world will be watching. I mean, for the Soccer World Cup to be here in New York and New Jersey, and for me to host it—what a dream!” Press exclaimed, noting that his “New Yorker hustler spirit” helped him land this exciting role.

Looking ahead, he’s especially eager for the World Cup Championship at the New York/New Jersey Stadium, teasing that preparations are going to be intense.
