Shooting Incident in Midland, Texas
At least one person has died and approximately eleven others were injured following a shooting incident in Midland, Texas, according to Mayor Lori Bron.
Midland’s Police Chief, Greg Snow, reported that officers arrived at the scene early Friday morning after getting calls about gunfire coming from a building on West Wall Street. He mentioned that armored units were deployed, and law enforcement engaged with the shooter.
“As of now, we have identified 11 victims,” the mayor shared in a Friday press conference. “At least one person lost their life at the scene.”
Nine individuals were transported to Midland Memorial Hospital. A representative from the hospital noted that five are in stable condition while four others are undergoing surgery.
Mayor Bron added that various law enforcement agencies, including SWAT teams, responded to the situation, and that the suspect had been “contained.”
The City of Midland announced on social media that incident control measures are in place, urging the public to steer clear of the area.
“We are aware of an ongoing situation near Industrial Avenue and Wall Street,” the city posted. “Public safety personnel are actively on the scene, and we ask that the public avoid this area until more information is available.”
Later updates indicated that the suspect involved in the shooting has now died.
The city confirmed via their social media that the situation has been resolved and the suspect is deceased.
Authorities also noted that the scene remains active, and road closures are expected to remain in effect as the investigation continues.
