Knicks Fans Flock to San Antonio for Game 5
This Saturday night, thousands of Knicks fans are gearing up to head to San Antonio, with around 45% of tickets for the key Game 5 reportedly going to basketball enthusiasts from New York and New Jersey.
The atmosphere at Frostbank Center is expected to be vibrant, reminiscent of the 1999 Finals, which the Spurs took in five games under Gregg Popovich’s leadership. Almost half the arena will likely be filled with blue and orange, as fans rally behind the Knicks in hopes of securing their first NBA Championship in 53 years.
Data shows that 37% of tickets for the finals were bought by people with New York ZIP codes, while an additional 8% were purchased from New Jersey. This information comes from popular resale platform TickPick.
Interestingly, only 12% of tickets had been bought by fans from Texas as of early Thursday morning, according to reports.
In previous games, New York and New Jersey only accounted for about 13% and 17% of tickets for Games 1 and 2, respectively—both played on the road.
The demand for tickets surged after the Knicks pulled off a stunning 29-point comeback against the Spurs in Game 4 at Madison Square Garden, clinching a 3-1 series lead.
On Thursday, ticket prices on TickPick varied, dropping from approximately $1,500 for standing-room only to just below $1,200.
As of Friday morning, the lowest-priced ticket available—located in section 201, row 10—was listed at $1,288.
Historically, the Knicks have enjoyed a favorable 2-0 record in the Finals when playing in San Antonio, especially after Victor Wembanyama missed a crucial last-second shot that could have secured a win in Game 2.
If the Knicks are looking to finalize their quest for a championship that has eluded them since 1973, the entry price for Madison Square Garden on TickPick sits at a hefty $10,727, with Game 6 scheduled for Tuesday night.
