Florida Man Arrested After Dramatic Police Pursuit
This week in Florida, an alarming incident unfolded when a man was arrested after a wild chase that began with a traffic stop. Video footage captured the scene, revealing how he sped away, crashed into another vehicle, and even left his child behind in the chaos.
On Tuesday, Orange County law enforcement attempted to pull over 24-year-old Jason Kennon, who was driving with an adult and two children aged 1 and 4. Kennon had several active warrants, prompting him to flee at a high speed, dangerously weaving in and out of traffic in Orlando.
Police chased him, but a helicopter kept a visual on his movements from above. Helicopter footage shows Kennon trying to avoid crashing into a black SUV at a stop sign, only to smash into it from behind instead.
After the crash, Kennon continued on and stopped in a residential area. He got out of the vehicle, removing the adult and the 1-year-old from inside.
As he exited, deputies noted that his 4-year-old was trying to get out of the car but couldn’t before Kennon accelerated again.
In that residential area, Kennon lifted the child from the back seat, and the child followed him as he took off running from the police.
According to the footage, Kennon ran out of an alley, took off his shoes, and began running barefoot away from the child, leaving the toddler behind.
He dashed onto the street and attempted to climb a fence leading into a nearby wooded area. By this time, several police vehicles were on the scene, and officers instructed him to get on the ground.
In a dramatic twist, one deputy managed to rescue a nearby child who was crying and holding Kennon’s shoe. Fortunately, that child was unharmed, as confirmed by the sheriff’s office.
Kennon is now facing a total of seven charges. These include aggravated fleeing and eluding, two counts of child abandonment, leaving the scene of an accident, reckless driving, possession of marijuana, and possession of a firearm during a felony.
Interestingly, Kennon’s legal troubles aren’t new. Back in December 2025, he was sentenced to 94 days in jail for charges related to breaking and entering and third-degree grand larceny, for which he pleaded no contest.
It remains unclear what specific warrants the Orange County Sheriff’s Office was acting on at the time of this incident, and attempts to obtain more information from the department are ongoing.
