Trump to Host Fourth of July Concert and Rally at Lincoln Memorial
The president has announced plans for a concert and rally at the Lincoln Memorial to coincide with the Fourth of July celebrations.
This event marks the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence and will be followed by a significant rally featuring President Trump.
Trump shared a message on Truth Social stating that the rally aims to “celebrate our people, spirit, strength, determination and victory.”
He claims this will be the largest military music and ceremonial performance ever, stating, “With the Lincoln Memorial in the background, over 300 members of our military bands, orchestras, and ceremonial units will perform patriotic melodies and American classics.” He jokingly added, “I think we won’t have anyone to put you to sleep or complain all the time!”
The 250th anniversary festivities kicked off at the White House following a UFC event that the president attended on Sunday.
Trump further announced that the July Fourth show will feature what he describes as the biggest fireworks display in history, along with impressive aerial displays.
However, there were complications with the planning. Some artists declined invitations to perform at the Great American State Fair, which is affiliated with the Freedom 250 celebrations. Notable figures like Martina McBride, Young MC, Flo Rida, and Morris Day opted out, leaving only Vanilla Ice willing to step in.
McBride stated she was misled about the nature of the event, which was presented to her as a bipartisan celebration.
“I had asked a lot of questions and was assured that this was a bipartisan event to celebrate all 50 states,” she explained.
In closing, Trump urged people not to miss the event, saying, “See you in Washington, D.C. on July 4th.”
