Knicks Celebrate NBA Championship in New York
The New York Knicks are reveling in their recent NBA championship win, enjoying moments in upscale nightclubs and making guest appearances on national talk shows.
After their victory over the San Antonio Spurs on Saturday, the team celebrated at the Spurs’ Frostbank Center before flying back to New York with the championship trophy—marking the first time it returns to the city since 1973.
The festivities really took off upon their return to the city. After an impressive playoff run, the Knicks embraced the excitement, becoming popular guests on shows like “The Tonight Show” and “Good Morning America.”
They have a grand celebration planned, with a parade through Manhattan’s Heroes Canyon, where they’ll be cheered on by thousands of passionate fans.
Finals MVP Jalen Brunson appeared on “Good Morning America” on Monday, sharing his emotional experience from the weekend. Feeling overwhelmed with joy, he even covered his head with a towel after the win.
“Honestly, it felt like a lifetime event,” he reflected. “I realized I had to do it because the fans’ reactions would be incredible on TV. The support I get makes it all the more special.”
During an appearance on ABC’s “The View,” Brunson discussed his reaction to Spurs star Victor Wembanyama’s controversial shove during Game 3, which wasn’t penalized as a flagrant foul.
“I wanted to retaliate, but I knew I had to stay calm and be a leader,” Brunson stated. “You have to keep your composure, regardless of the situation.”
On Sunday, the Knicks held a celebratory party at the Fly Fish Club, an exclusive venue in the Lower East Side. Brunson and other players, including Mikal Bridges and Karl-Anthony Towns, were among those spotted in the vibrant atmosphere.
Towns’ fiancée, Jordyn Woods, who has become something of a good luck charm for the team, was also seen enjoying the festivities up close.
The players mingled with Yankees All-Star Jazz Chisholm Jr., and friends and family were treated to a performance by rapper A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie.
Knicks guards Jose Alvarado and Jordan Clarkson participated in the Puerto Rican Day Parade on Knickerbocker Avenue that same day, celebrating alongside fans.
“Thank you so much, everybody. This means the world to me,” Alvarado expressed from a parade float. He shared his journey from Brooklyn to the NBA, noting his unique status as the only native New Yorker on the Knicks roster.
Bridges celebrated a bit too enthusiastically, taking to Instagram Live to joke about building a statue of Brunson and even discussing his dog’s favorite song.
“They should build a big statue of him,” he joked. “Just a big statue of that little head.”
Brunson later humorously suggested on social media that someone should take Mikal’s phone away.
Additionally, the team was set to appear on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” on Monday, further showcasing their championship glow.
The Knicks are also preparing for a victory parade through the Canyon of Heroes on Thursday, starting at Battery Park and ending at City Hall.
