Newly Released UFO Records Detail Orb Sightings

The Department of Defense and FBI have recently unveiled records detailing multiple orb sightings in the northeastern United States. These reports, which span from at least October 2024 to June 2025, include a particularly striking encounter where two individuals described witnessing a glowing red orb that seemed to contain a “white plasma sun,” about the size of a basketball.

This finding is part of a broader effort initiated during the Trump administration to declassify information related to Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAPs). The Presidential Opening and Reporting System for UAP Encounters (PURSUE) aims to bring more transparency to these kinds of sightings.

On one occasion in October 2024, witnesses spotted a “plasma-like sphere” hovering above a pond, approximately 2,700 feet away. Investigators noted that the object fluctuated in shape and brightness, occasionally appearing to disperse into smaller lights. For around 45 minutes, it remained stationary before vanishing. The footage, captured on an iPhone, was later assessed as credible by the government, with the FBI deeming the witness reliable.

This release is part of an ongoing initiative launched in February, where President Trump directed agencies to investigate and declassify records concerning unidentified phenomena. Over time, a range of documents have surfaced, covering everything from cases easily explained to others that perplex investigators even years later.

Among the notable incidents documented, one involves a “Mother Orb” sighting in 2023, where it was reported that a larger orb emitted a smaller object. This remains unresolved, adding to the intrigue surrounding these sightings.

In July 2025, another incident took place in the same vicinity. A witness returned home to see a bright light moving under the trees, which was identified as a red sphere about a meter in diameter. A second person independently saw the same orb nearby. They reported that two identical spheres floated together, changing direction and altitude before merging into one and disappearing. Footage from this encounter was also collected for investigation.

Records indicate that the recent wave of sightings originated from a specific region in the northeast, and law enforcement officials have been actively involved in gathering reports and analytics.

Among the emerging cases is a 2023 instance near a key national security area in the western U.S. Here, six federal officers reported spotting a glowing orange orb releasing a smaller red object into the sky. Notably, analysts found that about 40 percent of the documented activity remains unexplained after reviewing witness accounts alongside various data sources.

Though many instances could be attributed to military flares or other known phenomena, the investigation has revealed that no single explanation suffices for all sightings. Some questionable sightings are tentatively attributed to “unrecognized technology,” though this conclusion leans heavily on witness statements rather than solid physical evidence.

The released files include witness sketches and a map outlining four incidents, grouped under “Western United States Incidents.” These include titles like “Orb Firing Orb” and “Fiery Orb,” reflecting their unusual nature.

One particularly strange report surfaced in February 2022, near Colorado Springs, when five military personnel saw an object hovering over Cheyenne Mountain for several minutes. They described it as resembling an asymmetrical “potato,” with a body made up of irregular panels, which changed shape even while remaining still.

In another FBI interview from 2024, a former military intelligence officer depicted a milky white object, reminiscent of fish scales. Despite a government analysis suggesting it might have been a reflection, uncertainties over viewing conditions have led to skepticism regarding this explanation.

The varying reports from Colorado, the West, and the Northeast illustrate the complexity of these current investigations. While transparency advocates appreciate the government releasing difficult-to-access records, some researchers feel that relying heavily on eyewitness accounts with minimal technical data undermines their validity.

Former AARO director Sean Kirkpatrick noted that many unsolved cases stem from a lack of detailed information for accurate conclusions. Importantly, neither the Army nor AARO has concluded that any released incidents indicate the presence of extraterrestrial life or alien technology. Officials stress that unresolved cases merely reflect a lack of sufficient evidence to draw definitive conclusions.
