Following his release from prison on Tuesday, Lachie Rice seemed uninterested in discussing his experiences behind bars.
The Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver quickly avoided reporters who were waiting at the Dallas County Jail, after serving time at a Texas facility last month.
In a clip shared by fox 4, Rice was seen stepping backwards, attempting to dodge cameras before he made a dash for the exit, running down the street and jumping into a black SUV.
Once in the vehicle, Rice left the area without addressing the media.
Rice had initially been booked on May 19, suspected of breaching probation by testing positive for THC.
He had been on probation due to a plea related to two felony charges following a high-speed car accident in March 2024.
During that incident, Rice drove a 2020 Lamborghini Urus SUV on a Dallas freeway, lost control, and hit another car before fleeing the scene.
He ultimately pled guilty to reckless highway racing causing bodily injury and another charge of crash with serious injury, receiving a five-year probation sentence and was required to pay restitution to the victims.
Though Rice spent 30 days in jail, records indicate he was granted periodic leaves for treatment related to a knee operation.
His absence meant he couldn’t participate in the Chiefs’ required OTA minicamp.
The Chiefs are set to kick off their season at home against the Broncos on September 14th.
