OG Anunoby’s Unexpected Instagram Live Moment

OG Anunoby had the intention of going live on Instagram during the Knicks’ championship celebration, but there was just one small problem—he didn’t want to risk damaging his new phone.

Recently, on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” Anunoby recounted how, during the wild celebration following the Knicks’ Game 5 victory over the Spurs—a win that earned the franchise its first championship in 53 years—he briefly went live on air. Amidst the jubilation, champagne was flowing, and Karl-Anthony Towns was decked out in goggles, proclaiming, “We’re alive, baby, we’re alive.”

At that point, Anunoby realized he was in a bit of a pickle. “I was going to go live; it was my goal to do so,” he explained to Fallon. But when the champagne started spraying, he instinctively worried about ruining his phone. “So, I thought maybe I should turn it off, but I wasn’t quite sure how to do that,” he added.

During the 25 seconds of the live stream, viewers could hear him asking for help to end the broadcast before it finally cut off. This little mix-up turned into one of the funniest moments of the celebration, especially because Anunoby’s calm demeanor contrasted sharply with the wild energy surrounding him.

Eventually, someone helped him stop the stream, drawing laughter from Fallon and other teammates, who joined him for the show as part of their post-title media tour. Anunoby’s relatable personality has made him a favorite among Knicks fans, known for his impressive defense and steady performances in tight situations.

One of his standout moments came in Game 4, where he hit a crucial winning shot at Madison Square Garden, putting the Knicks in a strong position in the series.

But in that chaotic post-Game 5 celebration, Anunoby’s head was elsewhere—he genuinely wanted to share that exciting moment with his fans but was preoccupied with his new phone and its safety.
