Hillary Clinton Critiques Biden’s Re-election Decision

In a recent interview, Hillary Clinton expressed her belief that Joe Biden’s choice to run for re-election was a significant error. She described it as a “terrible miscalculation” during her conversation with the New Yorker Editor-in-Chief, David Remnick.

The discussion spanned various topics, including the Iran war, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and the upcoming 2024 presidential election, but Clinton centered much of her criticism on Biden’s re-election bid.

She remarked, “He made a terrible mistake for himself, his legacy, and his country.” This statement came after the Democratic National Committee published a report that seemed to question the rationale behind Biden’s decision to announce his candidacy again.

Clinton was asked if she thought Biden had made a mistake by running. Her response was clear: “He made a terrible mistake for himself, his legacy, and his country.”

She also suggested that had Biden opted for a single term, the Democratic Party could have engaged in a more vigorous fight, implying that a strong candidate might have emerged to face Trump successfully.

“I think whoever came out of that race—whether it was a vice president, governor, senator, or someone else—would have beaten Donald Trump,” she asserted.

Clinton acknowledged the challenges posed by Biden’s age and potential cognitive issues but noted a prevailing belief within the White House, prior to a debate featuring Biden and Trump, that Biden could still win the election. Attempts from some insiders to convince him otherwise were met with resistance, described by Clinton as “total denial.”

She indicated that this denial persisted even after the debate, with hopeful signals that Biden’s performance could be redeemed, despite emerging calls for him to withdraw from the race.

Clinton’s comments followed a CBS interview with Jill Biden, where she expressed concern that she thought her husband might have been having a stroke during the debate. “I watched it and thought, ‘Oh my God, he’s having a stroke.’ It scared me to death,” she revealed.

Ultimately, Biden suspended his presidential campaign in July 2024 and endorsed then-Vice President Kamala Harris, who would go on to face Trump in the general election, losing with Trump securing 312 electoral votes to Harris’s 226.

Clinton concluded by reflecting on her attempts to persuade Biden and implied that the overwhelming poll results were what finally compelled him to step aside.
