Major Cocaine Seizures at U.S.-Mexico Border

Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents intercepted suspicious cocaine worth over $984,000 trying to enter Texas from Mexico this past weekend. This information comes from a press release obtained by Blaze News.

The press release attributes these efforts to the leadership of President Donald J. Trump and Homeland Security Secretary Mark Wayne Mullin, stating that CBP agents are effectively countering illegal activities while allowing millions of lawful travelers to enter the U.S.

“Thanks to the continued vigilance of our frontline police officers, these drugs never reach America’s streets.”

CBP reported two significant incidents at the Laredo Field Office’s port of entry. The first took place on Friday when federal officers at the Columbia Bridge in Laredo subjected a driver of a 2020 Nissan Frontier to a secondary inspection, which included a canine unit and non-intrusive technology. Officers uncovered multiple packages of cocaine hidden within the vehicle, amounting to 50.75 pounds, valued at approximately $677,617.

The driver, a 56-year-old Mexican citizen, was arrested following the seizure.

The following day, CBP officers found an additional 22.97 pounds of suspected cocaine at the Camino Real Bridge in Eagle Pass. A 53-year-old Mexican man was referred for secondary testing, where 13 packages of narcotics worth about $306,723 were discovered concealed inside his 2015 Toyota Camry.

He too was arrested by special agents from Homeland Security Investigations.

Donald Kusser, Director of Field Operations for the Laredo Field Office, commented on the situations, stating that the repeated seizures underscore the constant threat drugs pose and the agency’s capability to effectively address this issue. He emphasized that, “Thanks to the continued vigilance of our frontline police officers, these drugs never reach America’s streets.”
