Federal officials have identified an illegal immigrant as the “mastermind” behind a planned drone attack targeting a UFC event at the White House this Sunday.
Abraham Alvarez, 31, originally from Mexico, was among five people charged in a conspiracy to assassinate President Donald Trump, as well as other officials and attendees, according to a report.
A social media post from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) revealed details about Alvarez, who was arrested on Sunday.
“The alleged mastermind of the attempted terrorist attack on UFC Freedom 250 is an illegal immigrant. Abraham Hermosillo Alvarez, a native of Mexico, was involved in the planning and execution of the attack,” the DHS stated.
He was taken into custody by the FBI on June 14, and a detention request was filed by ICE. Alvarez’s B2 tourist visa had expired back in 2001, and he never left the U.S. He had received DACA protections under the Obama administration. The DHS stressed, “This illegal alien should not have been allowed to remain in our country, and we will ensure he is brought to justice and swiftly removed.”
Breitbart News reported that the FBI had thwarted the drone attack and detained five individuals connected to the plot.
One suspect reportedly indicated that the motivation behind the conspiracy was to target “capitalist elites,” including politicians who received funding from the American Israel Public Affairs Committee.
FBI Director Kash Patel noted:
On June 10, the FBI became aware of a potential threat from individuals outside the National Capital Region concerning the UFC America 250 event in Washington, DC. Thanks to the collaborative efforts of the FBI, law enforcement partners, and the Department of Justice, we now have multiple suspects in custody and the potential attack has been disrupted.
While this achievement showcases exceptional investigative work, it aligns with the capabilities of our law enforcement team, which is trained to respond to threats against Americans, especially during major gatherings like the historic UFC 250 fight.
During “The Alex Marlowe Show,” Breitbart Editor-in-Chief Alex Marlowe discussed the situation, explaining that “the initial phase involved a drone carrying explosives targeting a nearby structure, creating chaos and diverting attention from the sniper team. It’s unsettling and quite remarkable.”
Furthermore, federal authorities are currently probing more than 20 additional individuals believed to be involved in this foiled plot.
