Vice President Vance Discusses Israeli Concerns Over Deal

Vice President Vance expressed that the Israeli political atmosphere is quite sensitive about a new deal, mentioning that misinformation might be causing some unnecessary panic. He believes the agreement could benefit not only the region but the world as a whole.

He noted, “The president has made it clear. If he notices a conflict between what the Israeli politicians want and what the American public believes, he’ll prioritize American interests. Disagreements can happen, and that’s completely normal.”

Vance pointed out that he hasn’t seen Prime Minister Netanyahu himself criticize this deal; perhaps he recognizes the nuances involved. However, some Israeli politicians, like Itamar Ben Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich, have voiced their disapproval. In response, Vance asked them about their alternatives to the deal. “You are a nation of nine million people,” he said, reminding them that Israel cannot neglect its security challenges.

He elaborated, citing recent U.S. efforts that have helped protect Israeli lives, such as missile defense initiatives. “We’ve dismantled their nuclear ambitions. And honestly, the current Iranian proposals would’ve seemed unthinkable just six months ago,” he admitted.

Vance emphasized the need to ensure that Iranian actions align with their promises, while also acknowledging the substantial support the U.S. has provided to Israel over the years.

The memorandum of understanding was electronically signed by both parties recently, with initial details shared through background calls with officials. Senior officials outlined why they are optimistic about the agreement’s potential.

One particularly contentious point mentioned was that the U.S. has committed to collaborate with regional allies to create a plan for Iran’s reconstruction worth at least $300 billion. However, it’s also emphasized that this memo doesn’t obligate the U.S. to pay Iran directly.

If Iran complies, opportunities for economic Investments await, while discussions about nuclear development will take place in the context of the agreement, including specifics on material disposal.

During a recent press conference, Vance addressed Israeli critiques, stating, “Currently, Donald Trump is the only world leader who truly understands Israel’s interests. If I were in the Israeli cabinet, I might reconsider how we approach our most crucial ally.”
