Newsom Attends Obama’s Library Opening Amid Ongoing Investigation

California Governor Gavin Newsom and his wife, Jennifer Siebel Newsom, traveled to Chicago for the inauguration of former President Barack Obama’s Presidential Library on Thursday. Their trip raised ongoing questions about a federal bomb investigation involving the couple.

At an event, California’s first lady encountered an unusual moment when questioned about the investigation by a reporter, quickly redirecting her focus back to the library. “I’m so grateful for this inspiration and leadership,” she stated, likely in reference to President Obama. “I need more of this!” she exclaimed, promptly looking away from the journalist. At that moment, Governor Newsom stepped in to address the inquiry.

He pointedly mentioned, “This is happening in other countries. That’s all I’m saying.” His comment echoed accusations made earlier in the week, suggesting that Trump is using the investigation for political gains. “Does he want to come after me? Come after me,” Newsom added, wrapping up the interview.

Jennifer Siebel Newsom had previously commented on the investigation, supporting her husband’s view. “There are clearly no boundaries to what Donald Trump will do to get his way or challenge those who stand in his way,” she said in a statement.

Reports indicate that the investigation is centered around nonprofit projects connected to Siebel Newsom, one of which reportedly received significant funds from special interests involved with Newsom and the state. The governor previously claimed that federal agents had approached his family, friends, and former employees regarding the matter.
