Rams Player Alaric Jackson Avoids Felony Charges
Alaric Jackson, an offensive lineman for the Rams, will not face felony charges following an incident involving a pregnant woman earlier this month.
On Thursday, a spokesperson from the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office confirmed to the California Post that the 27-year-old athlete won’t be prosecuted for felony offenses after a review of the domestic violence allegations against him.
That said, Jackson could still be looking at misdemeanor charges. A representative from the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office stated that they are now reviewing his case for potential charges.
The situation arose when Jackson was arrested on June 9, as the woman alleged that he assaulted her during a dispute at their residence in West Hill. According to her request for a restraining order, she claimed Jackson became upset when she tried to record him on her phone and injured her while attempting to retrieve it.
She mentioned that during their argument, when she warned him about her pregnancy, he reportedly said something dismissive, although details on the exact wording are vague. The altercation left her with various injuries, including bruises and cuts.
Jackson, who joined the Rams in 2021, signed a significant contract extension worth $57 million last year. While he has yet to make a public statement regarding these allegations, the Rams acknowledged the incident shortly after his arrest, emphasizing the seriousness with which they regard such matters.
A court hearing is set for July 1 to decide whether the woman requires a more permanent restraining order against Jackson.
