Faizon Love Arrested in Florida
Actor and comedian Faizon Love was taken into custody in Florida this week due to an outstanding warrant and is currently being held without bail, as per jail records.
The 58-year-old, known for his roles in films like “Elf,” “Friday,” and “Couples Retreat,” was booked into the Hillsborough County Jail on June 16 after local law enforcement apprehended him.
Love is detained at the Valkenburg Road Jail in Tampa, facing two counts of contempt of court, both linked to the same case. One of these charges is specifically noted as contempt of court. As of now, he remains incarcerated without bail.
According to booking details, Love was arrested around 10:48 p.m. on Tuesday, with formal booking happening shortly after. This arrest is related to an incident that occurred on May 15, 2026.
Reports indicate that the warrant was issued because Love allegedly failed to attend a child support hearing.
Court documents refer to the matter as being domestic in nature. Further information about the specifics of the case hasn’t been disclosed yet.
Love’s next court appearance is slated for Friday in Hillsborough County.
Though he gained fame for playing the department store manager in the holiday classic “Elf” alongside Will Ferrell, his career has faced various challenges. He’s had previous legal issues, notably a misdemeanor assault charge in 2017 related to an incident at Columbus International Airport in Ohio. In that case, Love received a $500 fine and was given a 180-day suspended prison sentence.
More recently, in August 2024, he faced serious assault charges stemming from an incident at a hotel in San Diego. Allegations state he reacted violently when a staff member informed him that a room he booked via a third-party app was unavailable.
Fox News has reached out to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office for additional details.
