A bizarre incident has gone viral on social media involving a woman who was caught in the act of stealing a Knicks-themed trash can in New York City. Dressed in an orange hat, a blue Knicks shirt, and denim shorts, she was filmed dumping trash from a dumpster onto the sidewalk, all while dragging her prize along. Onlookers appeared shocked as this unfolded.

Interestingly, she was seen with someone else in a Knicks costume as the video concluded, but it’s not clear whether they were together.

One user on X humorously predicted that the trash can would soon be listed on Facebook Marketplace for $450 as “Rare Vintage Knicks Memorabilia,” calling it a ridiculous act of dedication to the city. Another commenter was more straightforward, saying, “Girl, this is theft lol.”

Details about when this incident occurred remain unclear. Recently, the Department of Sanitation and clothing brand Only NY launched hand-painted wire trash cans to honor the Knicks’ NBA championship ahead of a ticker-tape parade.

The NYC Department of Sanitation weighed in, stating, “Dumping trash on the street and stealing public property for personal use are both illegal, antisocial, and not something New Yorkers do. And doing both on camera is incredibly stupid.”

According to the NYPD, there haven’t been any complaints filed, and they had no further comments on the matter.

After news of the bins circulated, some speculated that they might be targeted by fans eager to own a piece of Knicks history. One user even quipped that “the streets are going to be filled with trash because all the trash is 100% stolen,” making a rather accurate prediction.

This isn’t the first instance of rowdy behavior from Knicks fans following a momentous victory. Just recently, a wild altercation took place at Heroes Canyon, where one woman climbed a light pole and attacked another sitting there. The chaotic scene escalated further as the assailant was caught exposing her Knicks-themed underwear and being slapped on the rear repeatedly.

In the aftermath of the Knicks’ recent championship—its first in 53 years—New York streets were chaotic, leading to 63 arrests, four stabbing incidents, and one shooting, with ten NYPD officers injured during the unrest.

Disturbing footage even captured crowds vandalizing school buses in Times Square that were designated to transport soccer fans to the World Cup, with one bus even being set ablaze.
