Mother of murdered Capitol Hill intern criticizes Democrats’ crime strategies
Tamara Tarpinian-Jahim, whose son Eric Tarpinian-Jahim was murdered, has publicly opposed the lenient crime policies in D.C. She blames these approaches for her son’s death, emphasizing a dire need for law and order. Over the past decade, there have reportedly been 177,753 murders, impacting countless families.
In another, unrelated incident, a couple from Georgia has been charged with murder after allegedly killing a bartender and disposing of his dismembered body in a lake, according to local authorities.
Mario Andre Barber, aged 46, and Brittany Amber Baker, 42, were taken into custody on Monday for the alleged murder of 37-year-old Jamal Rashad Parker in a home located in the suburbs of Atlanta, as per a release from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.
Parker’s remains were discovered last May at Dog River Reservoir, roughly 30 miles from Atlanta. His identity was confirmed through DNA testing after his father recognized a tattoo on the body that matched his son’s.
Authorities believe that the alleged murder occurred inside Baker’s residence in Douglasville. Investigators were seen leaving the property recently with a reciprocating saw and cleaning materials, indicating the severity of the crime.
Police haven’t confirmed whether Parker had a prior relationship with his alleged killers, although a GoFundMe page established by his family described the two suspects as people they knew and relied upon.
The suspects entered not guilty pleas in court and are currently being held without bail. Reports indicate that both have extensive criminal histories. Parker’s father expressed a desire for severe punishment, suggesting that a life sentence wouldn’t suffice for what they had done.
Describing his son, Charles Parker said, “It’s reminiscent of what you see on television… they showed no remorse.” Jamal Parker worked as a bartender at Icy’s Kitchen & Bar in Atlanta and was remembered as a musician and artist with a vibrant spirit, according to the GoFundMe page set up to assist with his funeral expenses.
His family shared, “He loved life and the connections he made. As a musician, a visual artist, and a bartender, crafting new drinks brought him joy. This loss has left our family and friends devastated and heartbroken.”
